In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness.~ Mahatma Gandhi

'Jazz is musical improvisation;
it is the art of the moment.
In the recording of jazz,
the inspiration and inventiveness
of the moment
is made permanent by technology,
giving pleasure many years after
the performance.
Photography is Jazz for the eye.'
~ William Claxton, Photographer

From now on, there won't be a gesture, nor a blink of the eye which does not commit me irrevocably, which does not change the course of my life.~ Louis Aragon
From now on,

there won't be a gesture,

nor a blink of the eye

which does not commit me irrevocably,

which does not change the course of my life.

~ Louis Aragon

Imagination

What if you slept?
And what if,
In your sleep
You dreamed?
And what if,
In your dream,
You went to heaven
And there plucked
A strange and
Beautiful flower?
And what if,
When you awoke,
You had the flower
In your hand?

Samuel Taylor Coleridge

I believe in growing things,
and in things which have grown
and died magnificently.

I believe in people and in
the simple aspects of human life,
and in the relation of man to nature.

I believe man must be free,
both in spirit and society,
that he must
build strength into himself,
affirming the
enormous beauty of the world
and acquiring the confidence to see
and to express his vision.

~Ansel Adams

I would ask myself what time it could be; I could hear the whistling of trains, which, now nearer and now farther off, punctuating the distance like the note of a bird in the forest, showed me in perspective the deserted countryside through which a traveler is hurrying towards the nearby station; and the path he is taking will be engraved in his memory by the excitement induced by strange surroundings, by unaccustomed activities, by the conversation he has had and the farewells exchanged beneath an unfamiliar lamp, still echoing in his ears amid the silence of the night, by the imminent joy of going home.....

Hath he not always treasures, always friends,
The good great man?
Three treasures, - love and light,
And calm thoughts, regular as infants' breath;
